Competition Triumph For
Fully Cooked Sausages

A fully cooked and frozen sausage has won a major foodservice award in what is regarded as a breakthrough in the market sector for the style of presentation.

Gourmet Pork and Mustard Sausages from Snowbird foods took gold in the Meat, Game, Poultry and Fish Sector of the Excellence in Food & Drink Awards against stiff competition from entries like Honey Roasted Half Crown Duck and Pesto Crumb Topped Salmon Fillets.

Fully cooked in the factory, Snowbird sausages are a uniform golden brown and can be re-heated from frozen in seconds in a microwave or warmed in bulk in an oven.

"The quality is a given with Snowbird and the speed with which busy kitchens can react to customer orders using fully cooked sausages is really catching on", said Snowbird sales director, Roy Anderson.

He added that the established tradition of using raw sausages had been hard to break down and it was the large chains which had been first to recognise the convenience for the kitchens of fully cooked.

"Snowbird has created a new niche market with this style of sausage and it is going to be one of the fastest growing sectors in foodservice in 2007. The judges spotted a real winner," said Mr. Anderson.
